Cappa Stone Wines
Cappa Stone Wines Chardonnay

2015 Chardonnay

The History

The winery is named after a mountain icon in a Calabrian mountain range in Southern Italy, called Petra Cappa. In this mountain range their Italian grandparents fled for their lives in the war. It is a symbol of life, fulfilment and opportunity that they want to bring into this winery and the wines.

Winemaking/Viticulture

These grapes were harvested in the cool of the night from our vineyard. Basket pressed and fermented cool to retain the flavours found in the vineyard.

Four months on light lees, stirring occurred to give the wine a creamy middle palate and help balance the acidity. A small amount was racked to French oak barrels (10%) which adds another layer to the wine.

Tasting Note

This Chardonnay has aroma’s and flavours of white peach, nectarine, pineapple and tropical fruits. The subtleness of the oak used, sits in the background, while the purity of the fruit is allowed to shine through.

The elegance of the acid and the seductiveness of the fruit make this wine an enjoyable and very pleasurable wine to drink. The creaminess of the yeast lees stirring, rounds the palate off and makes it able to be matched to the perfect meal.

No filtration was carried out on this wine
